Happy Halloween and Happy Birthday
A Happy Halloween to you all and a Happy Birthday to my brother. Who is still the scariest thing about this day!
1 commentHalloween Eve
It will be a new experience for me this year as I ready for Halloween tomorrow night. I don’t have out my usual decorations and I’m not as festive as I usually am (heck, I don’t even have a costume) but that’s chalked out to things still being packed and the general chaos around real life priorities being a bit more important than the festivities this year.
Regardless, I can’t wait for it to be the day. I do just love Halloween. And this year I will be preparing for trick-or-treaters in a big city. Hopefully there are more treaters than trickers (maybe I should move my car) but it’s the amount that has me in shock.
I should have expected it, but when I asked some of our neighbors how many little boils and ghouls to prepare for I was told 400! DANG! That’s a lot more candy than I had to buy in good old Hobbs, America!
I just hope that there is enough candy to go around and if we’re lucky we WON’T have leftover bags of it so we don’t eat it!
1 commentI can’t wear white
This isn’t a post looking at my moral fiber. The reason I can’t wear white has nothing to do with my soul or *cough* personal matters. It’s just plain bad luck.
Most days I don’t wear white shirts. About the only thing I wear that’s white on a regular basis is socks (which go gray) and underwear (which, well, I won’t say). But those things can be covered up without any problem. So I honestly don’t care if my whites are that white.
There are, however, a few shirts I have in white. Case in point, a long sleeved t-shirt I just bought (not because I really wanted to, but because they didn’t have it in the color I wanted and white was the only other color that would work for me) I haven’t had much opportunity to wear it because it wasn’t cool enough. Well bring on fall and put on the long sleeves. But damn the dirt I seem to get into.
Any other day of the week, when I am wearing brown, dark blue, green, or countless other colors that are much more stain resistant than white, I stay spotless. You could eat off of me (but let’s not try that). I put on the white shirt and I become a dirt magnet. For some reason I always end up having to do some sort of manual labor or encounter 30, yes 30 separate dogs at the dog park today. Was there ever a day like that before? Oh no! You know why? Because I didn’t have my white long sleeved t-shirt on that’s why. Dammit.

This will be the first time I miss one of the most happening Halloween parties in the nation. I hope you guys have a wonderful time and have enough fun and more for me!
No commentsWow! It keeps raining
I’ve lived almost the past two decades in one place. A bit of stretch for someone who was already moving before she left the womb.
Regardless of my inability to not constantly be on the move or feel the urge to change the positioning of furniture because I can’t stand to have something in one place for too long, I did grow accustomed to certain things.
One of them was weather. I am used to the annual precipitation being about 4 inches. Yes, 4 inches for the whole freakin’ year. I think I end up using more water in the shower in a week than that.
Here, it’s not the case. We have had pretty much non-stop rain for three days. And guess what? No flooding. The no flooding with this much rain is new to me. I keep waiting for the back yard to become a miniature swamp land. Soggy and nasty and a breeding ground of skeeters.
But not just that, it’s not buckets being poured down from the heavens upon my head. Oh no, it’s a nice steady rain. The kind you see the movies or the kind you hear on those CD’s you can buy at the Nature Store for 20 bucks to help you sleep. But hell, I get it for free now!
It’s been nice. In one day we have gotten 1/4 of what we usually got in 1 whole year! It’s almost surreal. I forgot this kind of weather existed. Or maybe I didn’t. I thought it was just in some nirvana like place where things aren’t always dry.
However, I am sure by this point I am irritating the natives with my amazement at the obviously normal weather occurrence. Soon I will probably take an umbrella to the head. Yet I’m sure I’ll just keep smiling ![]()
Things I didn’t know
I am not one to say that I know everything. While I do know a mountain of useless information (some of it accurate) I realize I am far from “knowing it all”. That is why this morning I was taken by surprise by my shampoo bottle.
I was in the shower getting ready to wash my hair, when I picked up my fancy shampoo bottle. I have to use this fancy shampoo because since my move my hair has become a frizz monster and needs the extra moisture provided by this shampoo. Honestly, it’s the only one that has worked so far. So anyway, as I picked up the bottle I noticed some text I had not noticed on the bottle before, something I had never noticed on ANY shampoo bottle before. 100% Vegan
Now I know about Vegan food and even Vegan clothing, but I didn’t know there were Vegan shampoos. Which leads me to the assumption that there are Vegan soaps, deodorants, heck, a huge line of Vegan health care and beauty products.
That is something I didn’t know and honestly, never would have thought of.
1 commentIt’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Everywhere I go…
Yep, the stores are geared up for Halloween so of course that means its time to haul out the holly! Hard to believe it’s almost that time of year. Kids are starting to drool as they watch tv. Parents are starting to cringe in return. Not to mention; can we buy toys this year? Because they all seem to be contaminated with lead paint. Or is that a ploy by the gaming companies to force sales of over priced gaming devices and accessories to paranoid parents?
Either way, I do enjoy Christmas. Not necessarily the commercialism of it, but Christmas itself, and the holidays.
Around Halloween time I start to get a fuzzy feeling. Fall has started (my favorite season), the air is crisp, the sky turns such vibrant colors. Then we gear up towards Thanksgiving. A day to gorge ourselves and remember why we only visit family once a year. I think that is why we eat so much, to dull the pain of those visits. And after that, Christmas. All the bright festive colors, wrappings and trimmings. Songs on the radio you usually only hear once a year and no matter what those Grinches say, more people do smile.
Things just take on a different glow around the holidays. I’m not entirely sure what it is. But I like it.
2 commentsApple core
One of the clever time saving devices we have invented is an apple corer. Now it’s not a new device. As a matter of fact I have no clue how old they are, but that is besides the point.
I used my apple corer the other day, not for any perverted means but for what it is meant for and this is what I ended up with. And it made me think of a weird candle.

Professional Woman
I received my first paycheck for being in a movie today! It’s not an amazing amount of money but it’s exciting! I guess this means I am a professional now and no longer an amateur actress. Only took me 23 years!
Hopefully this is the start to some more paychecks!
