I was on set yesterday for the first day of filming of Kevin Smith’s new film “Zack and Miri Make a Porno” and let me tell you, it looks like a really funny film.

Overall it was a great day.  I was there for 12 1/2 hours and tired by the end of the day, but it was a busy one and lots of fun.  I got a pay bump because I was asked not only to use my (mom’s) car but to actually drive it and park it in the shot. So if you go to see the film, look for a silver gray, kind of champagne colored Nissan Maxima. Hopefully it wont’ get cut.

The first day of filming was taking place at the Monroeville Mall in Monroeville, PA. This mall is well known to George Romero fans as it was the setting for “Dawn of the Dead”. I don’t remember Mr. Rogers Neighborhood being there in the movie, but it’s there now.  Also, one of the crew was a zombie in the film in ‘78 and he showed me where he was shot and killed. Ah the little things you pick up in this business.

Tomorrow I will be back on set for “Homecoming” starring Mischa Barton. They’re a bit behind schedule, hopefully it has nothing to do with Ms. Mischa’s recent arrest!

That film is set to wrap up at the end of this week.  And next month Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron will be here to start work on “The Road”. They will be holding local auditions as well, so hopefully if there is a part appropriate for me I will be able to audition. One never knows. After all, the car was ready for it’s close up just yesterday!
