The receipt above isn’t a misprint. Oh no, if you look at the amount I paid to fill my gas tank on the 11th of March, you will see it was just $2.78. This was no mistake. This my dear readers, is fuel perks at work. Gotta love it.

You know it’s a good day when….

You look at your butt in the mirror in the morning and it looks smaller and happier.

And they say to beware the Ides of March.

Cadbury Creme Eggs

March 14th, 2008 | Category: holidays

It’s that time of year. One that is so exciting to me and almost overwhelming. Cadbury creme eggs are back on the shelves! I can barely contain myself. But I must. I must show restraint. Even though I get to see these lovely confections just once a year, I am being the Queen of Self-Discipline. I have limited myself to one a week. Two if I am feeling particularly naughty. But if anyone needs any ideas on a special gift for me, you know what to do.

Daylight savings

March 13th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

I hate this time of year. Why? Because of stinking DST. An evil invention thought up to throw off our internal clocks by one hour. I have a harder time adjusting to the one hour DST change then the five hour time difference I experience when I go over to Britain.

The idea behind DST was for energy conservation. But recent studies have shown there is little to no affect in this area. So why do we keep it going? Why is this irritating, clock tampering, still a law? Simple, because businesses like it and we all know who has the ears and pockets in politics. It’s not the common citizen. Oh no. It’s the businesses. So as long as it benefits those who are making the money and lining the pockets we will continue to have our minds and bodies messed with.

Something To Be Desired

March 12th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

I am happy to report that I am Something To Be Desired.  Or at least I am in cast of the web series, that is.

After attending and audition and a call back I have been asked to join the show and I couldn’t be more excited. While I won’t be receiving any monetary compensation (”pay” for those of you out there who aren’t to sure what that means) for my work on the show, I will be receiving some great experience and hopefully contacts due to the work.

Overall it looks like a fun place to work and the people I have met are great.  They are upbeat, enthusiastic, individuals who want to create a quality show that is fun and entertaining.

I am helping with the development of my character, which is an exciting process.  Hopefully I should start filming soon, if not at least by May.  If any of you out there are interested in checking it out before hand, please do. You can find it at somethingtobedesired.com

Myself, I have watched the last season, but want to watch the whole thing.  Be sure to tell your friends and family as well.  And as soon as I am going to be “uploaded”, as it were, I will let you know :)

Ear plugs

March 06th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

I’m light sleeper. I wasn’t when I was a kid.  I could have slept through most anything. I remember when I was about 13 one of my friends planned a “kidnap sleep over”. She had her mom get a hold of all of our parents to come and “kidnap” us in the wee hours of the morning. It took them about 10 minutes to wake me up and another 15 to get me out of bed.  I don’t have any found memories of that day, except for going back to bed.

Now, as an adult, I sleep about a hard as a feather.  I don’t saw logs, I saw chop sticks.  I blame part of that on helping take care of my niece and nephew when they were infants.  The other part, I have no idea.  The dogs shaking, scratching, licking, dreaming. My husband coming to bed late. The neighbors loud alarm clock.  I wake up on and off and that’ doesn’t do well for me.

So I’m trying ear plugs while I’m sleeping.  Not sure how it’s going to work because they field weird inside my ear canal.  Hope I can sleep with them in my ears all night.  I’ll keep you updating on this riveting new development.

Healthy living

March 05th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

I’m doing my best now to be healthy. I honestly mean it. I’m exercising more, I can’t remember the last time I had any caffeine and  I’m eating better.  I do like all of this as well.

The eating better was pretty easy to swing into actually. Once you take all of the junk out of your house and replace it with things that are healthy (as well as tasty) it all falls into place. I enjoy my fresh fruit and veg and yes, even granola.  It just feels better knowing I am doing my body and mind good by doing all this.

However, there is one thing I just cannot not do (besides get rid of all chocolate and sugar items forever from my life) and that is eat plain, non-fat, yogurt. I have tried. Believe me, I have tried.  It’s supposed to be great for you. It helps your insides they way it helps your outsides.  It is filling and low in calories and has no fat. But try as I might, mixing it with everything from my high-protein granola and tasty, delicious  raisins and craisins I can’t get past (or rid of) that sweet, acrid taste of vomit that comes with every mouthful.

I am almost tempted to place plain yogurt in my “Things that shouldn’t be” category.  It’s just plain nasty should be what is on the label.  There is a reason it’s pumped full of sugar and filled with fruit or fruit flavoring.  It may compliment or be handy in cooking other meals but, when it’s consumed “raw” as it were, I feel as if my mouth is full of bile, bile and craisins. It’s not a nice combination.

So I’ve marked plain yogurt off my healthy living list. It’s just not gonna happen. Though that is okay, I still have the granola.
