Postcards
I love postcards. They are wonderful. It’s a simple way to communicate and let people know that you are thinking about them. Even if it’s just for the nanosecond it takes to get it ready. I have gotten quite a few postcards from one friend far away and they are appreciated. They are posted on my wall right by my desktop computer so every time I look up I get a smile and think of her. So a big thank you to her as well in this blog post, as she shows that even taking a moment is something we can still do in today’s “busy” world.

my hair grows like a weed
You can see from the before and after pictures below that I recently got most of my hair cut off. Yet, like the weeds in my yard that spring up over night and I have to pull each day, my hair is already looking totally different and a lot longer. While I won’t be pulling my hair out (yet) luckily I have an appointment in the first week in August. It already needs to be whacked again.

Pot addict
I have to come clean, I have a dirty addiction. Literally. If it flowers, if it has leaves, if I can put it in the dirt and make it grown, I’m all over it. I love the feel of the dirt, I love the smell of the soil, I love to water, prune, weed, sit outside with them and enjoy. I just need another hit. Another pot, that’s all. Is that too much to ask?

Two hour spin
On Saturday I took part in a two hour spin class. For anyone who doesn’t know, spinning is basically a stationary bike class. You sit, you stand, you adjust the tension so it feels like you’re pedaling like a demon or crying up a hill side. After two hours I was basically just a sweat monster. But it felt great. I am a bit sore today but I would honestly do that two hours everyday if I could. Don’t call the men in the white coats!

Grooming Tricksy
I couldn’t take the picture because the evidence was thrown away. Our biggest dog, Tricksy, really needed a grooming. It’s was obvious from the mountain of hair we got off of her that not only does she need it more often but that her undercoat grew about three extra sizes for her first Pennsylvania winter. We had a pile of fur that was actually bigger than she was. She looks leaner, shiner and I am sure she feels better. Now we just have to keep it up for her because she appears to have become the shedding monster.

You’ve never seen it all
I’ve seen kids play lots of things over the years. School, store, house, Cowboys and Indians, Cops and Robbers, Doctors and Nurses. But never, until today, I have seen them play (get this) Restaurant owner and Health Inspector. Enough said.

The fireworks were amazing here tonight. Hope you all had a wonderful and safe July 4th.
Barbie survived this year.

Hacking it off
For two years now I have had long hair. I’m tired of it. It’s boring. So this Saturday my hair is going the way of the dodo. I’ve picked out a lovely, very short cut and a nice new color. I will have to post before and after pictures this Saturday.

Little insults
Working with little kids now I have discovered a whole new world of insults and put downs. After years of teaching sixth graders I learned there was very little difference between adult insults and that of an 11 or 12 year old. The vocabulary and intelligence was the same between them and most adults. However, the younger you are, the better the insults seem to be. It’s the simplicity I believe. How often do you get called a “hiney head” or with a look of pure evil be told “you’re not my best friend”. Yet even with all the venom there is also nothing as sweet. As soon as they would call you a ‘booger brain’ they will then tell you they love you and you’re they’re best friend. So it also seems that little kids are suffering from border line personality disorder. Now go do something else you “silly frog face”.
